The 2026 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) delivered one of its strongest lineups yet, bringing together more than 60 automotive brands at ICE BSD City in Tangerang from July 30 to August 9.
With global manufacturers using the event to introduce new models, showcase future technologies and expand their Indonesian portfolios, GIIAS 2026 offered something for almost every type of car enthusiast—from electric SUVs and hybrid powertrains to sports cars and rugged off-roaders.
Here are 10 of the biggest and most interesting car launches, debuts and premieres that stood out at GIIAS 2026.
1. Nissan Fairlady Z Makes Its Indonesian Debut
One of the most exciting arrivals at GIIAS 2026 was the Nissan Fairlady Z, which made its first appearance in Indonesia as an officially showcased model.
Presented under the "The Legend Has Arrived" theme, the legendary sports car brought a welcome dose of traditional performance-car appeal to an exhibition increasingly dominated by electrification.
The Fairlady Z is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 producing 400 horsepower. Power is sent to the rear wheels, with buyers offered a choice of a six-speed manual or nine-speed automatic transmission.
Its arrival was particularly significant because Nissan also used GIIAS to showcase its broader Indonesian lineup, including the Serena e-POWER, X-Trail e-POWER, Terra and Navara.
2. Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid and Land Cruiser FJ
Toyota had one of the biggest product stories at GIIAS 2026, introducing its new Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid EV while also giving visitors a closer look at the new Land Cruiser FJ.
The Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid combines Toyota's legendary off-road SUV formula with electrification, while the smaller Land Cruiser FJ takes the nameplate in a more compact and adventure-focused direction.
Toyota also introduced the new bZ4X Touring, giving its Indonesian lineup a more practical electric SUV option.
Together, the three models demonstrated Toyota's multi-pathway strategy, combining hybrid, battery-electric and conventional technologies rather than relying on a single powertrain approach.
3. Toyota bZ4X Touring Brings a New Electric SUV Formula
The Toyota bZ4X Touring deserves a separate mention because it represents a significant expansion of Toyota's battery-electric strategy.
The more versatile Touring version combines the bZ4X's electric architecture with a wagon-like SUV design aimed at buyers who want additional practicality without moving into a much larger vehicle.
In Indonesia, the bZ4X Touring launched at Rp889 million, with a 74.69-kWh battery, DC fast charging of up to 150 kW and a claimed range of up to 487 km.
4. BMW iX3 Brings the Neue Klasse to Indonesia
BMW used GIIAS 2026 to introduce the new-generation iX3 to Indonesia, marking an important step in the German automaker's Neue Klasse electric-vehicle strategy.
The iX3 represents BMW's new direction in electric vehicles, combining a completely redesigned exterior with a new-generation electrical and battery architecture.
BMW Group Indonesia had already confirmed before the show that the iX3 would make its Indonesian debut at GIIAS, describing it as the first model of the Neue Klasse generation.
The model quickly became one of the most talked-about vehicles on the show floor, particularly among premium EV buyers.
5. Suzuki XL7 Facelift
Suzuki brought a significantly updated XL7 to GIIAS 2026, refreshing one of its most important three-row SUVs for the Indonesian market.
The facelift features a redesigned grille and front bumper garnish, along with new interior details. Higher-grade versions also gain a 360-degree camera and Digital Video Recorder.
The XL7 continues to use Suzuki's 1.5-liter K15B gasoline engine, with the middle and upper grades retaining Suzuki's SHVS mild-hybrid system.
The updated XL7 is also important beyond Indonesia: Suzuki says production at its Cikarang plant is intended to support exports to overseas markets.
6. Toyota's E100 and B50 Fortuner Prototypes
GIIAS 2026 wasn't only about battery-electric vehicles. Toyota also used the event to demonstrate alternative approaches to reducing emissions from internal-combustion engines.
The automaker displayed Fortuner prototypes designed around E100 ethanol and B50 biodiesel fuel concepts.
The showcase highlighted Toyota's broader multi-pathway philosophy: rather than replacing every conventional powertrain with a battery-electric system, the company is also exploring alternative fuels that could extend the useful life of existing engine technologies.
For markets such as Indonesia, where SUVs remain highly popular and fuel infrastructure is evolving, the approach could prove particularly relevant.
7. Jetour T2 i-DM PHEV
Jetour brought the plug-in hybrid version of its rugged T2 SUV to GIIAS 2026, giving Indonesian buyers another electrified option in the adventure-SUV segment.
The T2 i-DM combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged hybrid-specific engine with an 18.4-kWh CATL LFP battery and dual electric motors.
Jetour claims a combined driving range of more than 1,200 km with a full battery and fuel tank, positioning the T2 i-DM as a long-distance alternative to both conventional SUVs and pure EVs.
The model also demonstrates how quickly plug-in hybrid technology is becoming an important part of the Indonesian SUV market.
8. Leapmotor B10 and C10 Mark a New EV Chapter
Leapmotor officially entered Indonesia at GIIAS 2026 through a partnership with Indomobil and Stellantis.
The brand's Indonesian lineup includes the B10 and C10 electric SUVs, giving Indonesian consumers access to Leapmotor's global EV range.
The B10 is positioned as a compact electric SUV, while the C10 sits in a larger family-SUV segment.
Leapmotor's Indonesian launch is significant not only because of the vehicles themselves but also because it forms part of Stellantis' longer-term strategy in Indonesia, including plans for local production through PT National Assemblers.
During GIIAS, the B10 was offered to the first 500 customers at a special price of Rp449 million, while the C10 was offered at Rp598 million on the road in Jakarta.
9. Hyundai Neira Concept
Hyundai gave visitors a glimpse into its future design and electric-mobility direction with the Neira concept.
The futuristic concept formed part of Hyundai's broader GIIAS 2026 display, which also included new electric models such as the Ioniq 9 and Staria Electric.
The Neira is particularly interesting because it points toward Hyundai's vision for future family-oriented electric mobility, showing how the company is exploring new shapes and layouts beyond today's conventional SUV and MPV formulas.
For AutoShowMag readers interested in concept cars, the Neira is one of the more intriguing vehicles to emerge from the show.
10. Hyundai Ioniq 3 and Ioniq 9 Expand the EV Story
Hyundai's presence at GIIAS 2026 extended well beyond a single concept car.
The company showcased the Ioniq 3 alongside the larger Ioniq 9, giving visitors a look at two very different approaches to electric mobility.
The Ioniq 3 represents a smaller, more accessible electric vehicle direction, while the Ioniq 9 is a much larger premium electric SUV aimed at families seeking three-row space and long-distance capability.
Hyundai also displayed the Staria Electric, further demonstrating the brand's ambition to expand electrification across multiple vehicle segments.
What GIIAS 2026 Says About Indonesia's Car Market
The biggest takeaway from GIIAS 2026 may not be any single vehicle.
Instead, the show demonstrated how rapidly Indonesia's automotive market is diversifying.
Japanese manufacturers such as Toyota, Nissan and Suzuki continue to bring major new models, while BMW and Hyundai are pushing premium and next-generation EV technology. At the same time, Chinese manufacturers and newer brands such as Leapmotor and Jetour are expanding their presence with electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
GIIAS 2026 also showed that electrification does not mean the immediate disappearance of combustion engines. Hybrids, plug-in hybrids, alternative fuels and battery-electric vehicles are increasingly appearing side by side.
That makes GIIAS one of the most interesting places to watch the future direction of the Southeast Asian automotive market.
With more than 60 global automotive brands participating, the show once again demonstrated why GIIAS has become an important launch platform for manufacturers targeting Indonesia and the wider Southeast Asian region.
Editor's Note: AutoShowMag's list focuses on notable new launches, debuts and premieres at GIIAS 2026. It is not intended to be an official ranking of the show's vehicles.
